Y12 English: You need to get at least 6 reading logs done by the end of the holidays. Make sure you have a variety of types of book. Look at the instructions given out at the start of the year to help you select books, and to remind you about how to do a log entry. ENJOY the reading.
Y12 Classics: Write any essay on the following topic:
Describe in detail the duties and living conditions of a typical slave in both the city and the countryside. Then discuss the aspects of their lives that reflected their very low status.
You may hand this in this week or at the end of the holidays.
Make sure your photos of classical Wellington are printed and bring them to class on Day 1. We begin assessment 2.4 that day.
Y13 Classics: Essay due by the end of the holidays -
Religion was both a public and a private matter for the Roman people. Describe in detail what gods were worshipped privately by individual families in the town and country and explain why worshipping each god was important. What outcomes did the Romans hope to achieve by carrying out worship to the gods?

Homework Weeks 6 and 7
12 English:
You should finish reading " To Kill a Mockingbird " by the end of week 7. There will be an essay due in on Mon 18 June.
You need to get me as many reading logs in as you can too. Mockingbird is allowed to be counted.
12 Classics: We begin Roman Social Life. This is your chance to get "Spartacus" out of the Video store and watch it." Gladiator" is also good. Watch anything on Roman history on the discovery or History channels.
13 Classics" I will set an essay topic next week so enjoy this weekend.

12 English: continue with your reading. You will be issued with the novel we are going to study in class on Wed and will need to be ready to start this and to get it read as soon as possible - max time 3 weeks.
12 Classics: study for the Common Test on 14th May on " Oedipus Rex ".
13 Classics: work on the Research Assessment 3.4 " Doomed to Die ". This is due to me Wed 23 May by 10.00am.

Term 1 Week 7
12 English - There are still a few of you who have not done your essay on 'Witness'. Get it done NOW.
- Everyone should be reading their books to get a second log to me by the end of this term, and again, some of you are already behind. Your reading is your homework.
Y12 Classics - This week you begin the first Assessment - the front page of a newspaper based on the Odyssey in class, and you have homework this week and next week to get it in. The final product is due to me on Wed 4th April by 9.00am in P1.
Y13 Classics - Homework is to continue with your worksheets. You should be finished the one for Bk 4 by Tues of week 8 ie the 27th Mar.

Y12 English: Reading log 1 should be with me now. If you are late make sure it is ready for Mon 12th Mar. Carry on with your next book. Your second log is due in Week 9.
The first Common Essay is due on Mon 19th mar by 10.00am. Topic:
"Good literature not only tells a good story, it also makes us think." Discuss this statement with close reference to the text you have studied this term. 800 words
You must write on the film "Witness". I will help you set this up on Thurs 15th so set aside time to write it over the weekend 17/18 Mar.
Y12 classics: Carry on reading ,and answering the questions on the worksheet. You must be finished by Fri 16th as your internal assessment begins on 19 Mar to 23 Mar in class. Final product is due Wed 4 April by 10.00am to me.
Geography students: Remember the lesson on Fri is very important for setting up your assessment.
Y13 classics :Carry on with reading and Book 2 Worksheet. Prepare to do a practice test in wk 7.

You should be reading your first book for your Wide Reading Unit Standard Level 2. Remember you must have your 1st log handed in by the end of Week 5.ie 9 March. The details about what to write are in the hand-outs I gave you. You ALL have them.
Y12 Classics
You should read Book 1 of the Odyssey for class on Mon 26 Feb. You can, of course, read more than that.
Y13 Classics
You should be reading Book 1 of the Aeneid and answering the questions on your worksheet. Pace yourself. Book 1 should be read and the questions done by the end of next week ie 2 March.
